Preparations are well underway for another fantastic celebration of one of Spennymoor’s most cherished events – the Spennymoor Town Gala. This year marks the 71st year of both the Gala and the dedicated Committee that has proudly organised it for over seven decades.
The main event will take place on Saturday 4 July and promises to be a vibrant celebration of Spennymoor’s rich community spirit. The day begins with a Carnival-style Parade setting off from Barnfield Road at 12:30pm, winding through the town centre and culminating in Victoria Jubilee Park, where entertainment will continue until 4:30pm.
This year’s theme is Country – “Saddle Up Spennymoor”, and participants are encouraged to embrace the theme in creative and colourful ways.
The Parade will feature the Spennymoor Town Brass Band, musical groups, vintage vehicles, street entertainers, local schools, and community groups. As always, the Parade will finish in Jubilee Park, where families can enjoy free entertainment, live bands and musical performances, local stalls and vendors, and a giant funfair.
