The fact that we have had such a beautiful sunny summer means Shildon Town Bowling Club played all of their matches in the sunshine, reports Harry Brown.
Their form in South West Durham Leagues this season has not been at its best but they have gained four new players, all showing potential and steadily improving with hopes to do well next year.
Club competitions have been played throughout the season and are nearly at the finals stage.
The Saturday monthly competition for July was for the Wilson and Vest Trophy (3 wood drawn pairs – Round Robin) played early in the month.
Jean Burton and Neville Plews were worthy winners with Paul Cole and Brian Watson runners up.
Meanwhile, the Saturday monthly competition for August has also been played.
It was for the Pat Lee Trophy with Brian Watson and Steve Atkinson claiming the victory.
Joint runners up were Harry Brown with Paul Cole and E Miller with Gordon Hanks.
Both trophies were presented by club president, Arnie Miller.
The club holds practice rollups on Tuesday at 6.30pm and Friday at 2pm, continuing to the end of August. All are welcome. For further information contact 07835 215426.
