The First XC in the NYSD series took place at Acklam Grange on the 6th October, and youngster Chloe Fairclough raced to victory in the u11 girls category in 7.17s. This was Chloe’s 2nd race of the weekend, having placed 3rd in the y6 minors XC the previous day in Jarrow.

The Junior women’s race saw Elizabeth Wood take a well-deserved 2nd place, while Shannon Ross ran well to claim 6th position in the u17 women.

Senior women in action were Helen Race, who completed the course in 32.33s and Sarah Tilley who finished in 37.39s.

The men also took to the action and Ryan Etherington finished 5th in the Junior mens race, while the u15 boys saw Cameron Stainsby and Ethan Edwards involved in battle for 6th and 7th position. Cameron just edged out Ethan in a close-fought battle, which both boys can be proud of.

Hackworth park run no.30 saw David Beadle claim a new pb of 21.21s, while close behind Andrew Griffith completed the course in 21.59s.

Gary Bainbridge (23.14s) and Hazel Johnstone (26.25s) completed the Shildon quartet, who were in park run action.
