Shildon and District Flower Club meet at the Civic Hall on the first Monday of the month and have done for forty six years, writes Founder President Cynthia Scott.
For a yearly fee of only £30, members enjoy friendly evenings with a demonstration of flower arranging, various stalls with scarves, jigsaws and books – all ‘cheap as chips’ – and all donated by members.
A raffle of all the arrangements at the end of the evening is a bonus for the lucky winners.
The occasional workshop takes place – the Christmas one is always very popular.
Recently, we held a fund raising event with morning coffee, a fashion show, sale of clothes and accessories, a two course lunch with coffee and an amazing flower demonstration all for £20 per person, open to all.
This was the twelfth such yearly event, which has become so popular it was a sell out and raised over £1000 for club funds, keeping membership fees really low (£3.00 a night) and allowing us to invite the best demonstrators as well as giving a charity donation.
We’d love to welcome more Shildon people to the club.
A one-off visit fee of £5 would let them get to know us and see what they are missing.
Next meeting is 7.30pm on 12 May – come and join us!
