A team of athletes from Spectrum Roller Skating Club had success at Great Yarmouth in the National Summer Roller Cup Competition on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 June.
Skating for the first time in the Pairs event, Liam Stevens and Ella Hutchinson achieved a staggering 1st place!
The pair performed a beautifully choreographed routine to the recent number one hit Die with a Smile, which earned them gold.
Lucy Owen skating to a Robin Hood theme achieved 2nd place (and a new PB) in level 2 free skating and 3rd place in figures level 5.
Ella Hutchinson performed a Wicked musical routine and achieved 2nd place (and a new PB) in level 1C free skating and 6th place in figures level 3.
The performance also earned her level 3 free skating certification.
Nicola Stevens placed 5th (and was 0.02 seconds from her PB) in level 1B free skating with a routine to Lady Gaga.
Millie Seaton-Lawes skated to Hocus Pocus and placed 20th in level 1A free (with a new PB) and achieved a brilliant 5th place in Level 1 figures.
Her routine also earned her level 1 free skating certification.
Myla Chapman skated to music from Tangled and achieved 15th place in free (and gained a new PB) and 19th in figures.
Her skating also earned her a level 1 free skating certification.
“It was incredible skating once again, with every athlete giving it their absolute all,” said coach Tracy Stevens.
“We are very proud coaches and would like to thank everyone who supports our club.
“We are incredibly happy with how our team performed and are looking forward to the upcoming British Championships events in July as well as hosting our competition again.”
The athletes, who train at Sunnydale Leisure Centre, Shildon are part of Spectrum Roller Skating Club.
The club will be hosting their annual competition July 26 and 27 at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
