Thanks to a grant of £18,800 being secured through the Area Budget via the 4Together Partnership, Ferryhill Town Council has been able to replace the old play equipment at Carlton Street Play Area at Ferryhill Station with new, modern equipment.
Children attending the local primary school voted on the type of equipment they wanted to see installed, and thanks to this funding, the play area, which had received little investment for over 20 years and was becoming tired and outdated, has now been completely regenerated.
Mayor, Cllr Curtis Bihari said “This project is great news for the children of Ferryhill Station.
“The new equipment has really transformed the old play area and given it a completely new lease of life.
“A big thank you goes to the Area Budget and 4 Together Area Action Partnership teams for awarding the funding that has enabled the project to be delivered.
“And a big thank you also goes to Play Company, Streetscape who carried out the works onsite.
“The new equipment will benefit local children for years to come.”
