Ferryhill Town Council is pleased to announce that works to regenerate Play Facilities at Dean Bank Park are now complete.
Thanks to a grant of £90,000 secured through Tarmac’s Landfill Communities Fund via the Derbyshire Environmental Trust (DET), together with a £25,000 contribution from Ferryhill Town Council; old equipment has been removed from the park and replaced with new, modern, more challenging and inclusive play facilities.
The town council would like to say a big thank you to Tarmac for their significant funding contribution, and also to Play Company, Kompan, who provided and installed the new equipment, and whose play designs were chosen unanimously by the public.
A celebration event to mark the project will be held at Dean Bank Park at 2.00pm on Wednesday, 15th April 2026.
Children are invited to come along as there will be a ‘Guess the number of Eggs in the Jar’ competition, with the winner receiving the full jar of eggs. There will also be an activity sheet for children to complete, to receive a free Easter egg (on a first come first served basis).
Refreshments will also be available from the Football Pavillion Café.
Mayor, Councillor Angus Ferguson said: “Ferryhill Town Council are thrilled that it was able to secure the monies required to regenerate the play facilities at Dean Bank Park.
“The council is extremely grateful to Tarmac Ltd. for contributing such a significant level of funding, which has enabled the project to be brought to fruition, breathing new life into the former Miner’s Welfare Park.”
