Model Motion at Locomotion

0

There will be an opportunity to see the railways in miniature when the popular, annual model railway event Model Motion returns to Locomotion: The National Railway Museum on the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th March.

The event will feature a range of model railway displays, plus trade stands offering all you need to enjoy your modelling hobby at home.

In particular – to celebrate No. 60103 Flying Scotsman’s forthcoming visit to Locomotion later this year (more of which can be read in issue 753 of the Crier) the museum will be showcasing Flying Scotsman layout, featuring various trains that have made up Flying Scotsman from 1862 to the present day.

Other highlights include the Allerton Junction model railway layout by Shildon Model Railway Club; a fantastic Tomy Trains display which will delight younger visitors; and a display of Meccano models by the North Eastern Meccano Society.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a steam train ride behind Furness Railway No. 20 – the oldest standard gauge locomotive still working in the UK.

Visitors should note that a small charge applies for steam train rides.

The Model Motion event is open from 10am to 4pm daily, and parking and admission is free of charge. For more information, call 01388 777999.
