After more than a year in the planning, the Spennymoor Churches Holiday Club got underway at the end of July. Taking place over three days at St Paul’s and Trinity Methodist churches, around 60 children enjoyed fun and fellowship to discover about Jesus in creative ways.
The club’s theme was ‘Secret Agents’ and each day began with a drama sketch as Bill and Ted – secret agents in training – were tasked with finding out about the truth of Jesus, which led into activities including arts and crafts, music and games.
The event would not have been possible without the many volunteers involved in the planning, organising and running of the club.
There was a wonderful team of volunteers who offered their time during the week, as well as lots of support by praying, giving financially and providing help behind the scenes.
The organisers said it was wonderful to see the children, young people and their families engaging with the good news of Jesus and comments posted on Facebook showed how popular the event was.
Heather said: “It was such a fantastic event! The girls Millie and Robyn have enjoyed it and I loved joining in at the end. It was amazing!”
Diane said: “Thank you so much for giving up your time to do this, it’s greatly appreciated. The children had the best time!”
And Stacey added: “Oscar has loved the last three days. It was lovely to see what they’d been up to.”
