Since launching its Members Initiative Fund (MIF) in April 2022, Ferryhill Town Council has been able to support 28 organisations and community groups through the scheme.
The latest groups to benefit from the Fund are Macmillan Cancer Support and Land of Adventures CIC.
Representatives from Macmillan visited the town hall recently to meet Councillor Gordon Barker and to receive a cheque for £450 from his MIF allocation.
The funds will be spent on supporting people affected by cancer in the Ferryhill area.
Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information, and financial support to people affected by cancer.
It also looks at the social, emotional, and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.
Cllr Barker said: ‘I am delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile organisation.
“Macmillan Cancer Support are an organisation close to my heart, who provide an invaluable service for people affected by cancer, during the most difficult of times.”
Meanwhile, Land of Adventures CIC, also recently attended the town hall where they met Cllr Angus Ferguson who presented representatives of the group with a cheque from his Members Initiative Fund allocation for £450.
Land of Adventures is a newly established organisation, which offers affordable classes for children aged 0-4 years including baby massage, yoga, messy play and a playgroup; as well as organising events for children aged 0-7 years.
