Dear Editor,

Last year residents in Faraday Street and Stephenson Street raised concerns about a barrier that had been taken down during works by DCC on the green grassed area in front of their properties.

The barriers had gone missing and were not replaced. Residents told me said they felt unsafe as it was a play area for their children and vehicles were regularly now driving onto the area. I reported it back in August 2024 and then contacted the 4 Together Partnership for help to get it sorted with Highway Services.

I’m delighted to say the barriers have now been reinstalled, Big thank you for everyone’s help and Durham County Council Traffic Management team who organised and installed the barrier replacements. Job well done and ready for the summer!

Best Wishes, Glenys Newby
