Dear Editor,

I am a socialist who has voted Labour throughout my life and could never contemplate voting Tory. At the upcoming election in July I can no longer vote for the Labour Party.

As previously outlined in this newspaper I can not accept the current Labour candidate who – despite his protestations – has been parachuted into this constituency by the NEC after failing to be successful at Tatton in 2017 and Blackpool in 2019. The message would appear to be that a decision has been made that there is not a suitable candidate in this constituency who can adequately  represent this constituency. A major patronising insult which I find unacceptable.

In addition I am appalled at the Labour Party – and the Tory Party equally – response to the death of over 35000 people – most of whom are non-combatants – in Gaza.

Further today its recorded that Diane Abbott has been given the Party Whip but banned from standing for parliament that she has represented since 1987!

As a result of the above I will abstain in the forthcoming election.

Sincerely,
Fred Langley
