Jean and David celebrate Diamond Anniversary

Jean and David celebrate 60 years of marriage with granddaughter Chloe and daughter Julie.
Jean and David were joined by Mayor of Chilton, Cllr Sue Reece, who presented the couple with a gift on behalf of the people of Chilton.

Popular Chilton couple, Jean and David Langdale celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends last week.

They were joined by Mayor of Chilton, Cllr Sue Reece, who presented them with a set of commemorative glasses on behalf of the Town Council and residents of Chilton.

Jean and David, who met in the Black Bull Public House in Ferryhill as part of the Christmas Celebrations, married on 7 May 1966 at Bishop Auckland Registry Office.

David fondly remembers that “Jean looked stunning in suit with little button down the front and the weather was good just like the occasion.”

And when asked what is the secret to a happy married life, he said: “Jean’s cooking and baking.”

David and his daughter Julie talked about his recent health issues and how, when he was rushed to hospital, the nurses described Jean as his angel and they couldn’t agree more!

Mayor Reece said: “I was delighted to be able to join Jean and David’s celebrations and to make a presentation on behalf of the people of Chilton at their very special anniversary.”
