A group of friends from across South West Durham enjoyed a charity football match on Saturday at Shildon Leisure Centre, raising funds for prostate cancer, which has touched many of those involved in the day.
“We had a wonderful day and a fantastic turn out to watch the game, said Gavin Aldworth. “We would like to thank Donna Aldworth, Stuart Taylor, Libby Taylor and Silvia Brooks who helped ensure the event was a success.
“We raised over a thousand pounds at the football game and with raffle prizes. My father-in-law, George Robinson was diagnosed with the illness as was Stuart Taylor’s dad, Vern Brooks, who also sadly passed away. We wanted to raise awareness and show a community coming together for a fantastic event and a great cause.”
