Ferryhill Town Council would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year’s Annual Town Meeting.
The event held at the Masonic Hall on 29 May included presentations by Leeanne Owens, Town Clerk of Ferryhill Town Council, Kath Merrington, Manager of Ferryhill Ladder Centre, Inspector Rachel Hills of Durham Constabulary and Jack Ball representing Supportive SRC.
Mayor of Ferryhill, Cllr Angus Ferguson opened the proceedings, welcoming everyone to the meeting and thanking them for their attendance before handing over to outgoing mayor, Cllr Carole Atkinson, who presented two cheques for £1,700 each to representatives of Ferryhill Miner’s United Football Club and Ferryhill Scouts, who she had chosen to raise funds for during her term as Mayor in 2024-2025.
In closing the evening’s proceedings, Cllr Ferguson announced that during 2025-2026, in his term as Mayor, he would be raising funds for a number of charities, one of which would be Little Treasures Autism Charity, which was very close to his heart, having recently been diagnosed himself.
The Mayor then invited everyone to stay and look around the information displays provided by Ferryhill Athletic FC, Supportive SRC and Ferryhill Town Council, and to chat and exchange ideas for the future.
Cllr Ferguson said: “I would personally like to thank everyone who has been involved in this year’s Annual Town Meeting.
“The event demonstrates what a fantastic range of community groups and service providers we have available in the town, all of whom are doing a fantastic job.
“I am thrilled to have been a part of it. A big thank you also to the staff at the Masonic Hall, who were on hand throughout the evening to provide refreshments.”
