Following collaboration between Councillors Paul Mountford and Joe Quinn, local activists and Durham County Council, Ferryhill’s old benches have now been replaced – and the transformation has been “fantastic,” said Cllr Quinn.
“The previous benches had become heavily worn”, he added, “with chipped surfaces and a light-coloured finish that showed dirt easily.
“They also lacked back support, which was far from ideal for older residents or anyone with mobility or back issues.
“The new benches are a significant improvement,” said Cllr Mountford.
“They are more attractive, provide better comfort and support, and are designed to be easier to keep clean and to maintain. We hope residents will enjoy them for many years to come.”
