The vibrant Four Clocks Centre is centrally placed on Newgate Street with its ornate four-faced clock tower visible across the town.
The centre is managed by the Bishop Auckland Community Partnership, which was formed in 1997 and is a registered charity. It has many projects under its umbrella that are beneficial to local people and visitors to the town.
The trustees would welcome any new volunteers to become members or trustees of the partnership, which meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 10am.
All its projects, which are funded and non-profit making, consist of part-time staff and volunteers.
The Four Clocks Centre facilitates several meeting rooms of various sizes to suit a variety of needs.
Extras are also available for hire, including hot water boilers, refreshments, flip charts, projectors and so on. Meals and buffets can be arranged if required (they can be pre-ordered from the Time for You Tearoom located in the centre).
Room hire rates vary from £10 to £23.60 per hour depending on size.
The centre hosts a number of regular groups, which all exclude bank holidays and their individual volunteer co-ordinators holidays.
They include Time 4 Toddlers Group, Bump to Beyond Infant, Breastfeeding Support, BAASS (Bishop Auckland Alcohol Support Services) and a Memory Club aimed at people in the community who suffer with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.
The Four Clocks Club is aimed at combating loneliness and isolation while the Friend’s and Leisure Group is for people who like to play games and chat over a cuppa.
Cultivate 4 Life is also located at the Four Clocks. This project aims to support the young people and adults of Bishop Auckland and surrounding areas, with their current circumstances and needs, providing a holistic horticultural working environment and one to one support, together aid the community they are a part of.
