In 1966 my family moved from Teesdale to Shildon which you can imagine was a shock to the system, writes Margaret Fenwick.

I had to make new friends and joined the Black Bull Youth Club where seven of us thought it a good idea to form a netball team. Our successes were limited but we had such a good time.

60 years later, the netball team contacted each other through the wonders of social media and we arranged to meet at Santini’s in Shildon. What fun we had catching up with all those memories, including never winning a single game on the netball pitch.

The Diamond Netballers back in the day.

It was a great time in our lives, a fabulous youth club and I made lifelong friends.
