Last week saw the Auckland/Chilton Croquet Club visit Bishop Monckton for a friendly match, reports Richard Peck.
Rather than the number of games counting, the total number of hoops was used to decide the outcome. The players did well to recover from a 10 hoop defecit at lunch to end up winning by 20 hoops.
This week sees another visit from a WI group. This time Wolsingham WI are coming down to Chilton to try their hands at croquet.
If you like to try your hand at the game, we’re at the Miners Recreation Ground on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday afternoons from 2pm until 4pm-ish. All equipment and coaching is free. Just come along in flat shoes, a waterproof jacket and hat and we’ll show you how to get going.
