Cornerstone Supported Housing and Counselling, a charity supporting local people suffering from homelessness has opened its latest hub in Bishop Auckland earlier this month.
The hub at Finkle Street is open Monday to Friday, 10am–2pm, offering support for anyone experiencing homelessness.
Visitors can access hot and cold food donations, use the disabled-access shower facilities, wash and dry their clothes, and make use of allocated lockers for their belongings.
“While our focus is homelessness, we work closely with amazing local organisations who provide professional support for a wide range of other needs, ensuring no one is left without support,” the charity said on its Facebook page announcing the opening, which was also attended by local MP, Sam Rushworth.
Dr Rushworth said: “It was special to see local residents, organisations, and the police coming together for the incredibly important work
Cornerstone do, providing professional counselling and housing support.
“The facility looks fantastic and their passion and commitment really shine through. I’m looking forward to working with everyone involved and seeing the positive impact they bring to our community.”
