Consultation into Town Square

0

A consultation into the future of Shildon Town Square is being held by Durham County Council.

Residents were last year given the opportunity to give feedback on the public space, with 678 people sending in their responses.

Some residents believe the area should be demolished, while others think replacing the fountain or adding attractions for children would be an improvement.

Some adults also wanted to see festivals or markets taking place there.

The County Council’s head of economic development and housing, Sarah Robson said, “We are now looking into possible designs and costs of the various suggestions and will be consulting again with the public later in the year to decide the way forward.”
