Once again Chilton Town Councillors choose not to claim allowance available to them for carrying out their public duties, to allow these funds to be redirected into community grant that support local groups and projects.
Mayor Cllr Sue Reece stated, “We know that these grants have a real impact on the lives of our residents. Last year we were able to provide vital funding to Chilton 1st Scouts, Chilton Chi Taekwondo, Chilton Community Fund, Chilton Academy, Friends of Chilton Academy, Chilton Junior Football Club and Chilton FC, The Chilton Banner Group and Capturefilms.
“These Grants were made possible because as councillors we continue to forgo our personal allowances, ensuring every penny is reinvested directly in the community.
“It was a pleasure to see this funding in action at events like the Community Fund Harvest Festival and pancake flipping evening with Chilton 1st Scouts and to recognise the importance of supporting Chilton Academy provide Christmas lunches for families in need.”
Applications are open until 12noon on Friday 26 June and local organisations, in particular those that have nor previously received a grant, are encouraged to apply. Further details, including the Community Grants Policy and application form, are available on the Town Council Website www.chiltondurham-tc.gov.uk.
