Shildon Alive is looking forward to the summer following a generous donation from the Busy Bees.
Joining their weekly meeting at the Corner Café, Shildon Alive were delighted to accept a kind donation of £500.
Paula Nelson, Shildon Alive Manager said: “We really can’t thank the Busy Bees enough.
“We have decided to spend this much-needed funding on supporting our young people by providing free school packed lunches for all children in Shildon during the school holidays and contributing towards a family trip to the seaside this summer.”
Nora Brewster from the Busy Bees explained how the group had initially started: “We began our fundraising journey many years ago by raising money for a hydrotherapy pool at the Oaks, a centre for adults with learning and physical difficulties which was attended by Alan and June Quigley of Shildon.”
Their next quest was for Butterwick Children’s Hospice in memory of Malcolm Brewster and now the canny volunteers tirelessly raise funds for many local charities within the area, helping communities and families with their generosity and love.
