Two boxers from Spennymoor were on the triumphant Brandon Boxing Club tour to Canada to compete in the Brampton Box Cup – the largest box cup in North America with over 600 entrants. The cup was previously won by Lennox Lewis.
Alfie Ellis and Charlie Hodgson were amongst eleven gold medalists from Brandon who, beyond their wildest expectations, won the famous Brampton Gold Cup for the most successful club at the tournament.
The boys came home after visiting Niagara Falls, the CN Tower and Toronto, with many great memories and friends from their trans-Atlantic visit. They would like to say a big thank you to Spennymoor Town Council for the help they gave them towards this trip of a lifetime.
