Bishop Auckland FC were unable to improve on their mid-table position in midweek after going down to a 4-2 defeat at lowly Bridlington Town.
The Two Blues twice took the lead in the game, going into the break 0-1 to the good after Louis Johnson’s 33rd minute opener, but were unable to hold on as the home side came back to level twice before finding another gear to collect all three points.
In a frantic six-minute period, first Sam Kay pegged Bishops back with a leveller in the 52nd before Dane Burlace beat his man down the left in the 55th and fired a low shot under the keeper to regain the advantage.
But the lead lasted just three minutes as Danny Earl nodded home a corner to bring parity to the scoreline once more.
Two further goals from Tom Allan (72) and Michael Coulson (77) ensured the points would remain in Bridlington after a spirited Bishops performance.
Meanwhile, the club has strengthened its playing squad for the second half of the season.
Midfielder Joe Wheatley, a product of Middlesbrough FC Academy and former Darlington FC, Spennymoor Town and, more recently, Whitby player, signed in early January.
Forward Jack Blackford has signed from Redcar Athletic. Jack started his career at Hartlepool United, where he made two senior appearances.
He was included in a pre-season squad with Scottish side, Rangers, and had trials with Manchester City, West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa. Jack has also spent time with Guisborough Town, Marske United, Shildon AFC and Newton Aycliffe FC.
The club has also signed forward Glen Hargrave, who joins from Newcastle Benfield, while centre half, Jack Vaulks has joined from Shildon AFC where he played nearly 200 games over the past five years.
This weekend, the Two Blues travel to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground in Huddersfield where they will face third-place Emley AFC.
The following Saturday it’s back to Heritage Park where the visitors will be sixth-place North Ferriby.
Bishops currently sit in 12th position in the Northern Premier League East Division.
