Boosted by the return of James Risbrough and John Howard, who both started the game, Bishops surged into a three goal lead by half time against bottom of the table Bridlington, reports Gavin Hadden.
Joe Bartliff steered in a cut back from Louis Johnson inside ten minutes, and just after the half hour, Aaron Brown added the finishing touch after pin ball in the Bridlington box following a set piece.
Risbrough showcased his quality when he floated a lovely ball from the left following a pass by Dean Briggs and Johnson slammed home from close range a minute prior to the break.
Bishops had not had it all their own way, the visitors cutting through numerous times but their wayward finishing letting them down and Ryan Catterick also saving several efforts comfortably.
In what could be determined as a turning point, Bartliff squandered a great chance early in the second half to surely put the game to bed, bending the ball just wide after taking a couple of touches too many.
Johnson then smashed a shot just over the bar after excellent control from a cross field pass.
The carnage in the Bishops defence started on 62 minutes when Danny Earl headed in a cross from the right, and just two minutes later Josh Barrett guided a back post header into an unguarded net.
Further goals from Bridlington seemed inevitable as Bishops seemed to be gripped by a sense of fear and the scores should have been level but for Catterick denying a clear chance after good interplay.
On 76 minutes Brown was outpaced by Earl and the forward darted into the box to steer a shot beyond Catterick, aided by a slight deflection, to the delight of everyone in red.
At this point the game could have swung either way, but a catastrophic error by Howard on the half way line let in two forwards for a clear run on goal, Earl played in for a simple finish for his hat trick.
With only four minutes of stoppage time to salvage something from the game a deep cross just evaded a finishing touch at the far post, and at the final whistle there was huge contrasting emotions from both sets of teams.
Three days later, the Two Blues hosted Pontefract Collieries and the side showed a degree of character after the weekend collapse to at least get a point on the table against a very useful outfit.
It was Bishops who once again took the lead when Bartliff headed powerfully home on 16 minutes and had the better of the first half action.
But it was the away side from West Yorkshire who came out all guns blazing at the re-start and substitute Louis Chorlton made a quick impact on 50 minutes when some crisp passing dissected the Bishops defence for the striker to calmly slot home.
Bishops almost snatched a late winner when Howard beat several defenders, but his shot was blocked by an outstretched arm and Tymon’s follow up attempt was flagged offside.
All in all this was a satisfactory result against a good side, but Bishops were unable to build on it in their latest outing, albeit they once again took the lead at fourth-place Grimsby Borough last Saturday.
Cyril Giraud got the visitors off to a flying start in the third minute, having made his Bishops debut in the midweek draw at Pontefract.
But Bishops once again failed to hold on and Bradley Wood drew the hosts level just hafter the half hour.
And just as it looked as if Bishops had earned a hard fought point on the road, the side conceded a penalty with nine minutes to go, which Scott Fenwick duly dispatched.
Having dropped into the bottom four, Bishops entertain league leaders, Emley AFC on Saturday and will then have a midweek break before travelling to Sherwood Colliery on 5 October.
