Bishop Auckland Civic Society’s Annual Town Quiz took place at the Football Club at Heritage Park on Monday 1 December. 16 teams competed for the privilege of hosting the quiz trophy, donated by Deco Trophies and Engraving, for the next 12 months.
Once again, Quiz Master, Glynn Wales, tested the teams with a challenging set of questions.
The winning team, ‘Six Men in a Boat’, donated their prize money to this year’s good cause – Bishop Auckland Rugby Club – which will benefit to the tune of £850. The money will be used to support the Club’s appeal for funds to restore the pitches which were damaged during recent storms causing the River Wear to burst its banks, flooding the area.
Thanks must go to all those local businesses and individuals who donated prizes for the Grand Raffle; to members of the Civic Society who helped on the evening; to Chris and Theo Hunt for organising their inspirational themed music quiz and last, but by no means least, the Football Club catering staff and officials for looking after us all so well and for granting free use of the facility which allowed the Civic Society to ensure that all money raised on the evening – £850 – went to benefit the Rugby Club which, in previous years, had also generously hosted the Town Quiz free of charge.
