Auckland Moors United Youth FC played host to M+M Academy during their recent tour of the North East.
Three squads of Under 9’s to Under 11’s from the Ayrshire based football academy travelled south of the border to experience playing against some of our local grassroots teams.
Together with Hetton Inter Under 10’s and Ferryhill Town Youth, Auckland Moors arranged a round-robin tournament, utilising the all-weather surface at Whitworth Park Academy’s sports arena.
Over the course of the afternoon, more than twelve games were played across the two pitches, with many parents attending as supporters.
Auckland Moors coach and club secretary Simon Garrett hailed the event a great success, saying that the tournament provided an opportunity for their local teams to experience some competitive football with top quality players.
Michael Moffatt and Scott McLean from M+M Academy gave thanks for making them feel very welcome during their North East tour, highlighting that the weekend produced lots of goals, lots of fun and a lot of happy kids!
They look forward to welcoming teams back to Ayrshire for a return leg.
