With over 200 people attending and 70 young people performing, the annual Youth Variety Show at Shildon Civic Hall was once again a successful event.

A spokesperson told the Crier, “Over the two nights we raised over £600 for the SCYPAN Young People’s Awards Evening.

We would like to sincerely thank the Mayor, Cllr. Shirley Quinn for attending the show, along with thanks to the Spectrum Roller Skating Club, Tracey Stevens, Timothy Hackworth Divas and Claire Meadows, as well as the Tearaways and CATS Theatre Groups and all the young people who gave up their time to perform at the two events.

“We would also like to thank the ‘behind the scenes’ volunteer helpers that manned the door and sound equipment, tombola stall and generally looked after the young people’s well being.

“Thank you to all the people who attended and supported the evenings. A very grateful thank you to you all.

“It never ceases to amaze us how much talent there is in the local area.

“In the show we had skaters, dancers, singers, musicians and comedy, filling a two and a half hour show. Wow!”
