Abbi With Love: An Update

(L to R) Scott, Paul, Lee and Antony.

Abbi Armstrong’s dad Paul gives us an update on the fundraising bikeride recently completed to help raise funds to help with Abbi’s care:

After setting off on Saturday 30 August from Annan in Scotland, me and two other Shildon lads – Lee Williams and Antony Williams – pedalled through wind, rain and up some big hills to reach Whitley Bay before darkness fell.

We were met by our families who congratulated us on our achievement.

This was all done not only to raise money for my disabled daughter Abbi but also to raise awareness about Abbi’s condition that still is not diagnosed.

The bike ride covered approximately 100 miles and we only got lost twice!

My brother Scott followed in a back up vehicle.

l would like to thank all of the people in Shildon for their generosity, including Linsleys Butchers and sponsors Phil Hedley Tyres, Manhealth, Admire Gym and Team Solan Connor Fawcett Cancer Trust.

A shout out goes to the pool teams in the Russel Place Bishop Auckland pool league, to the fundraising efforts of Chris Bowron of the Miners Arms and Kevin Marley and Phil Nevison of the Durham Ox, both in Coundon.

The amount we’ve raised so far is more than £6,000.

Thank you to all who have left positive messages on social media wishing Abbi well and finally a special mention to Abbi’s mam, Carol, who has been devoted to her daughter’s wellbeing throughout her illness.

Abbi will be home from respite care this week.
