The Pineapple Gallery in Fore Bondgate, Bishop Auckland, is delighted to announce that their Jackie Stonehouse exhibition, Colour in Nature has been extended into the New Year due to visitor interest and positive response.
Jackie Stonehouse, artist in residence at The Auckland Project, studied at Cleveland College of Art & Design in Middlesbrough and at Winchester School of Art. Based in North Yorkshire earlier in her career, she was a co‑founder of North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS) before locating to Bishop Auckland in 2010.
Jackie’s practice is informed by her early professional background as a horticulturalist, working in garden centre nurseries as well as in laboratory and field research for MAFF. This foundation fostered a lifelong fascination with colour and a deep understanding of the natural world, which continue to underpin her nature and landscape work today.
A highly skilled multi‑media colourist, Jackie works confidently across ceramics, textiles, printing, and painting in a range of media. Each piece represents a fresh response to her chosen materials and subject matter, resulting in compositions that are vibrant, considered, and richly expressive. She has exhibited widely across established galleries in the North East and brings extensive knowledge of the regional arts landscape to her practice.
