To ensure everyone in the local community has access to enjoy a historic, informative and inspiring day out at The Auckland Project in Bishop Auckland, tickets are being made available to certain visitors throughout May for just £1.
Up to six people per household will be eligible for £1 tickets if anyone in the home is in receipt of the following:
- Universal credit
- Working tax credit
- Pension credit
- Employment and support allowance
- Income support
- Jobseeker’s allowance
One person per household needs to show supporting documents with tickets available from Auckland Tower with proof of eligibility and proof of ID.
The proof of eligibility includes:
- Universal credit – show your Universal Credit statement, either on their mobile app or a paper copy
- Working tax credit – HMRC letter confirming Working Tax Credit
- Pension credit – DWP letter of confirmation
- Employment and support allowance – DWP letter of confirmation
- Income support – DWP letter of confirmation
- Jobseeker’s allowance – DWP letter of confirmation
The tickets are valid for Auckland Castle, the Faith Museum, the Spanish Gallery and the Mining Art Gallery from Wednesday 1st May until Friday 31st May.

“Times are tough for many people and we’re delighted to offer £1 tickets to families in need of a day out, fresh air and a change of scenery.
“With an array of attractions that reveal the rich history of the area, there’s plenty for families of all ages to get stuck into at The Auckland Project.
“We want to welcome everyone at our venues – come and explore the castle and its vast parkland, learn more the long-standing connection to Spanish Art, or delve deeper into the incredible creativity of the Mining Art Gallery.”
