The next meeting of the Ferryhill History Society will take place on Wednesday 29 October.
The meeting will take place at the Ferryhill Station Workingmens Club at 7:30pm.
The speaker will be David Hughes with a talk on Jeremiah Dixon. Dixon was a surveyor best known for his collaboration with astronomer Charles Mason when they headed off to settle a border dispute between the colonies of Pennsylvania and Maryland in 1763. The line they surveyed settled into both history and folklore as the Mason Dixon line and is still considered the line dividing the northern states of the USA from the south.
Cost will be £2 per person and all are welcome.
