Gary Forrest to stay at Shildon

Shildon Football Club has confirmed that its double-winning management team of Gary Forrest, Stuart Niven and Phill Brumwell will remain in post for the foreseeable future.

After much post-season speculation, the club and management met earlier this week to discuss the club’s continuing ambitions and Forrest made it clear he is keen to remain in post.

Doubts about the manager’s position surfaced when the club lost out on winning their first league title in 75 years after Forrest hinted that he may have taken the club as far as he could.

However, the club secured a rare double a week later when the League Cup was secured with victory over Newton Aycliffe, and the management team is now ready to go again after the league disappointment.

Meanwhile, the club celebrates its Player Awards Evening on Friday, 15th May, at Elm Road Club.

Cover charge for the evening is £3 with Player of the Year, Player’s Player of the Year, Committee and Supporters Club Player of the Year all to be announced.

The Durham Challenge Cup and Northern League Cup will be on display and live music will be provided by popular local band, Oily Bum Print.

Prior to the presentation night, the players and committee will be gathering at the football club’s Dean Street clubhouse for pre-ceremony refreshments.

The clubhouse bar will be open from 5pm and members of the public are welcome to go along.

The Presentation Evening at Elm Road Club will begin at 7.30pm.
