Deliverer FAQ

Q. How old should deliverers be?
A. We ask that deliverers are a minimum of 13 years old. There is no upper age limit, we have a variety of deliverers from school age through to retired.

Q. When do the papers get delivered to me?
A. Papers will be delivered around midday on the day stated below
– Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter – Wednesday
– Shildon & District Town Crier – Thursday
– Bishop Press – Friday (fortnightly)
– Spennymoor News – Friday (fortnightly)

Q. When should I deliver the papers?
A. Ideally you will deliver the papers on/by the day stated on the front of the issue, 8am or after.
– Ferryhill & Chilton Chapter – Friday (weekly)
– Shildon & District Town Crier – Friday (weekly)
– Bishop Press – Saturday (fortnightly)
– Spennymoor News – Saturday (fortnightly)

Q. Where do the papers get delivered?
A. The paper bundle will be delivered to your door. If you are not home we will leave it on the doorstep.

Q. How much money will I receive?
A. Our deliverers will receive a different amount depending on the round that they do. It is calculated based on not only the size of the round but the difficulty (for example terraces are generally faster to deliver to than detached). If you have an enquiry about a specific round get in touch and we can let you know the exact amount. Pay packets are delivered through your letterbox. Payment is in lieu, so you will receive payment for your first week with your second bundle, and so on.

Q. What happens with leaflets?
A. Some weeks your deliveries will include leaflets. They will be delivered to you alongside your bundle and you will receive extra money in your next pay packet.

Q. What if I am unsure about a house?
A. If you are unsure about a house for whatever reason please get in touch with us and we will confirm whether or not it is on your route.

Q. Is there a system for complaints?
A. We operate under a three strike system. If we encounter an issue we will first let you know on your delivery sheet. If the issue persists we will give you a call. If the issue continues then we may have no other choice than to let you go.

Q. Is there anything else I need to know?
A. We ask our deliverers to be respectful of people and their properties. Please don’t walk across gardens, do close gates behind you and ensure that you don’t leave papers hanging in the letterbox.
