Chilton Excavators Bowling Club have now won 11 of their last 12 bowls matches and, for a new team built overnight for 2026 they are flying.
A 5-0 win at Bishop Auckland has put them top of the Darlington & District Bowling League Division B.
There were huge wins for the rink of Michael Wigham, David Bell and Sue Waller and also the sponsors’ (Terry’s Taxis and Daleside Arms Croxdale) rink of Terry Dougherty, new member Tommy Greener and Michael Patterson.
There was a close victory for the family rink of mam, dad and son, Chris, Fliss and Joseph Bradley, and also a narrow win for Scott Morland, Gary Wilkinson and Tracy Dougherty securing all five points.
This also follows a 7-3 over Spennymoor at Chilton last Tuesday night which sees the club back up to 4th in the Durham Midweek League.
The next fixture is against Jack Hatfield Phoenix in the Cleveland and Teesside League, scheduled to take place at Chilton on Saturday 11 July at 1.30pm.
