National Finals await young players

Saturday 6th February saw a huge team of over 16 Bishop players take part in the English School Table Tennis Association County qualifying event, held at Darlington TTA.

On a successful day for the club, with many players turning out fantastic performances in a strong field, they only lost out in two events entered: The U13 boys was won by England international, Thomas Rayner and the U19 girls saw Abbie Maddison have to withdraw from the final after one set due to an ongoing arm injury.

Nevertheless, the U11 Girls saw Anya Milne take the title, also matched by Leo Pontone winning the U11 boys, beating teammate, Luke Mitchell who took the runner up spot.

The U16 Boys was won by Max Duffin, who defeated several teammates on his way to the win.

Jack Jacomb took home the U19s, with Ed Sett from Bishop the runner up.

All the winners will now go forward to represent County Durham on the national stage in Wolverhampton at the ESTTA National Finals in April.
