SUMMARY:Shildon Railway Institute Volunteer Event
DESCRIPTION:Shildon Railway Institute is to hold a special briefing event for potential new volunteers looking to be part of something special in the near future.\n\n \n\nThe event will be held at 12 noon on Saturday 17 August in the Institute’s main hall. It’s an opportunity to hear how the Institute is progressing\, how your skills might prove a good fit for being part of Team Stute\, and putting forward some of your own ideas on what could happen next.\n\n \n\nSince changing its constitution to become a Community Benefit Society last year the historic organisation has been making progress on looking into how it could use its potential better serve more people of all ages across Shildon in the future\, and has also made positive progress on finding support for that new approach.\n\n \n\nHowever despite beginning to turn corners on that mission the Stute has found itself a little short on resource needed to do some exciting new things\, mainly as a consequence of former volunteers either moving away or stepping up to take more responsibility as part of the unpaid committee.\n\n \n\nA spokesperson for the Stute said\, “Anyone is welcome\, young or old\, and tea\, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.”\n\n \n\nThey continued\, “Across our town people want good things to happen\, but it’s only ever the commitment of good people that makes those good things happen. Our current family of volunteers are amazing – it simply needs to grow.\n\n \n\n“The Institute has a real chance of a bright future now\, but we have to grasp that and own it.”\n\n \n\nMore details on the need for volunteers\, and the event on Sat 17th\, are on the Institute’s website\, www.shildonrailway.institute.
