SUMMARY:The Tapestries Collection - Etherley Methodist Church
DESCRIPTION:The Tapestries Collection is an ambitious project to create a series of of freestyle embroidered panels\, which will be eventually displayed at the Weardale Museum in Ireshopeburn\, County Durham. However\, for 1 day only\, they are being displayed on Saturday\, the 1st of June at Etherley Methodist Church\, DL14 0HZ. \nOver 50 embroiders from all over the Country are involved in creating these beautiful works of art. Each has chosen the stitches\, colours and textures they feel appropriate to the design\, which means that every panel has its own unique character. These exquisitely embroidered panels give a wonderful insight into the social history of the local communities and generations of ordinary men and women who lived\, worked and worshiped in this area and beyond. \nThe exhibition will take place on Saturday the 1st of June 2024 from 11.00am to 4.00pm. Entrance is free\, and free car parking is also available in a special car park\, which will be clearly signposted. \nFood was also be served throughout the time the exhibition is open. \nPlease contact Marie on 01388 526692 if you require any additional information on the unique day.

SUMMARY:Greenfield Arts - Exhibition Preview Evening
DESCRIPTION:Greenfield Arts is welcoming back artists and photographers\, Elaine Vizor and Douglas Whittaker for the final exhibition to be held in the Greenfield Gallery. Douglas and Elaine are bringing together a collection that shares their respective journeys with photography. \nTheir paths crossed at Greenfield Arts in 2018\, initially at the annual Open Art exhibition and then at Elaine’s workshops. Two paths: Different eyes\, different lives\, merging at a point in time is a fitting final exhibition for the gallery in many ways. \nThe collection explores their individual artwork and the inspiration and connections the two have found within the Greenfield community and how this has impacted on their creative journeys. The collection will include a selection of photographs and cyanotypes that create a shared experience and showcase their artistry and technical accomplishment. \nThere will be a preview evening on Wednesday 19 July from 6pm – 8pm which is open to the public and where visitors will be the first to see the collection and meet the artists.
